AniWave (aniwavetv.live) is a free anime streaming site with a clean layout, subbed and dubbed episodes and a catalog of almost 9,000 titles. It covers the big names like One Piece and Attack on Titan, current-season simulcasts and plenty of older classics, and you don’t need an account to start watching.
Is this the original AniWave?
No. The original AniWave (formerly 9anime) shut down in 2024, and since then several sites have reused the name. aniwavetv.live is one of them: it borrows the brand, but it is a different site with a different team. That is not automatically bad, but it means you should not assume the old site’s reputation carries over. Judge it on what it does today, which is what we did here.
What can you watch on AniWave?
The library is big for a free site: popular shonen, seasonal releases, movies and a fair number of niche titles. Most shows are available both subbed and dubbed in English. Streams go up to HD, and a resolution switch helps on slow connections.
Is AniWave easy to use?
The interface is modern and works well on phones and tablets. You can search by title, browse by genre or alphabetically, check the latest uploads, hit “Random” when you can’t decide, and follow the weekly release calendar to see when new episodes drop. An EN/JP toggle switches title names.
AniWave player and servers
Every episode has several servers, so if one is slow or down you can switch in a click. There is a report button under the player for broken episodes. There are no downloads, so it is streaming only.
AniWave account and community
Signing up is optional and gives you a watchlist and watch history synced across devices. There are no comments or forums on the site itself; updates go out through a Telegram channel.
AniWave ads and safety
The site runs on ads and calls itself “pop-up-light”, but it also openly recommends using an ad blocker, which tells you what to expect. Use uBlock Origin, don’t click “download” or “update your player” banners that appear over the video, and don’t install anything the site or its ads ask for.
AniWave alternatives
If AniWave is down or a show is missing, our list of AniWave alternatives ranks other anime streaming sites by score, and the AniWave status page shows whether the site is up right now.
Verdict
aniwavetv.live is a solid free option for subbed and dubbed anime: a big catalog, a clean interface, several servers per episode and no account needed. Just remember it is not the original AniWave, and keep an ad blocker on while you watch.
